The Daniel Flaherty Park Excellence Award
The Great Lakes Park Training Institute (GLPTI) is proud to introduce the Daniel L. Flaherty Park Excellence Award. Mr. Flaherty become Chairman of the GLPTI in 1948 and remained in that position until his retirement fifteen years later. In honor of his leadership and commitment in developing professional training programs the GLPTI honors him by awarding the annual Daniel L. Flaherty Award for Park Excellence. The GLPTI will award one facility or program or either two facilities or two programs completed within the last 5 years that offer our Institute delegates exposure to a variety of excellent facility projects or programs representing the cutting edge of the leisure movement throughout the United States.
These facilities and programs will demonstrate innovative cost effective design, the utilization of community input and resources, and provide a significant impact on their community and agency.
If you know of a program or project within or outside your agency, please take a moment to fill out the Flaherty Award Application and return it to the Assistant Director by December 11, 2009. Departments awarded will receive recognition on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 and will give an overview of their facility or program.
